Using Pinterest to Organize Homeschool Ideas

Do you know I have had a gazillion bookmarks on my web browser? Seriously, I had folders for homeschool (further divided into smaller categories), sewing , cooking, crafts, blog posts to read again, the list goes on. Not to mention the bookmarks on my other computer. There were so many that when looking for a particular one I knew I had it was hard to find it because I had to remember which computer I bookmarked it on and what site it was on. BIG PAIN.

Enter Pinterest.

I am in love with this concept of pinning to different boards, yes just like bookmarks, only better, way better. It pins the pictures so I can actually see what I was looking for rather than read through all the titles. And I can label it whatever I want to more easily help me remember.

Now I can consolidate all the bookmarks from my various computers into one visual space. This has been extremely helpful with all my homeschool bookmarks. I have gathered 'school' room decorating inspiration, math sites, literature/grammar/writing ideas, preschool, free resources, etc. all on their own pin boards.

Pinterest is also searchable. Type in homeschool in the search bar and I can see what others have pinned for their own homeschool inspiration.

And look! Even articles from Latter-day Homeschooling has been pinned a few times!

If you don't have a Pinterest account, I highly recommend it. It has been a great tool in organizing all the ideas, resources, and curriculum I want to use in our homeschool.

I just discovered Pinterest a few weeks ago and I'm hooked. I also have spent hours cleaning out my bookmarks and organizing them into Pinterest. I love it!

Ooooo...I see many of mine on there! :) I didn't event think to check out LDHS!

I have enjoyed the pinning immensly and dh often looks over my shoulder giving me hints as to what food he would like pinned! :)

The only problem I have with it? I had to re-activate my FB account in order to belong.

I just started on Pinterest yesterday and I love it already! I was using Evernote & bookmarks for a lot of homeschool ideas but this is really nice because of the separate boards and the pictures. I think it will come in very handy for organizing so many things.

Jaime...I made a private Twitter account and linked it to that instead of re-activating FB or linking it to my husband's account. I only keep road condition updates and news reports on Twitter so it isn't another thing to distract me through the day. Just an idea for anyone else who isn't on FaceBook.
