On the Web . . .

Since there are ALL types and sizes of families that Homeschool, I can’t only focus on one particular group. I just go all across the web and find different types of resources for any one of these types of homeschooling families.

Family Big Project-001

I have recently gained an intense, urgent desire that I need to teach my children the Gospel and all that THAT entails. (not that it wasn’t already a focus, but I don’t know how to explain this feeling I have.) I feel like the main priority of our Homeschooling time should be focused on the FAMILY UNIT and on the Gospel Principals. I just have this sense that this is what our children need and also, what we, my husband and I, need. Recently my brother passed away. In fact, his funeral was last Thursday and he was really my brother-in-law. But, not so technically, he was my brother. He has been in my life for more than half of my existence. He was only a few years older than me and has been sick for the majority of the time that I have known him.

As our family has dealt with this loss and have pulled together to be our own unit and also focusing on how we can help my Sister (who is a complete ROCK and her daughter – who is currently serving in my old mission, the Indiana Indianapolis Mission –) have completely done everything right. They have a FIRM FOUNDATION. THIS is what I want my children to have. I want them to really understand that in order to be with Uncle Ernie again, we are all going to have to make the RIGHT DECISIONS at all times. This has been  a big learning time for us and we are still in the grieving process – but, I do have faith and I do know that my children KNOW that we will see Uncle Ernie again. I have basked in their testimonies of the family and in knowing right from wrong. I love hearing their ‘favorite memories of Uncle Ernie’ in their sweet voices.

This reminds me that it is the day to day things that we need to not get bogged down in but we need to stay focused on the Eternal Perspective of our lives. These moments on earth are but a small moment in our entire, vast existence. We need to remember that.

We (my husband and I) must teach our children to be as Moroni: “Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.” Alma 48:17.
